Corrugated Was Circular
Before Circular Was a Buzzword.

Corrugated is the most recycled packaging material on earth. We’ve been making it honest since 1860.

OUR HONEST POSITION

We’ll tell you straight.

Since 1860, six generations of the Wunderlich family have built this business on one principle: you get a straight answer. About lead times, about capabilities, and about what’s in your packaging.

We’re an independent converter. We source corrugated sheet from established U.S. mills and transform it into boxes, displays, and packaging solutions right here in St. Louis. That means we have a direct relationship with every material that goes into your order — and we’ll tell you exactly what it is.

If your procurement process requires SFI or FSC certified fiber, tell us upfront. We’ll source it and document it. If it doesn’t, we’ll tell you that too — because the corrugated you’re buying already carries one of the strongest environmental track records of any packaging material on earth.

No borrowed credentials. No fine print. Just honest packaging from people who’ve been doing this long enough to know the difference.

Need SFI or FSC certified packaging? Tell us — we source from certified mills and can supply documented chain-of-custody material when your procurement or customers require it.

“Corrugated is already the most sustainable packaging choice in the supply chain — not because of what companies say about it, but because of what consumers do with it. The material earns its reputation every single day at the recycling bin.”

What We Actually Do

No generic pledges. These are the specific practices that make Wunderlich packaging
genuinely better for the environment.

Right-Sizing

Every box we design uses only the fiber your product actually needs. Eliminating oversized packaging cuts board consumption, reduces void fill, and shrinks your freight cube — all at once.

Water-Based Inks Only

All Wunderlich printing uses water-based, low-VOC inks. They’re compatible with the recycling process and don’t compromise the repulpability of the board — which matters to the mills buying OCC.

Plant Scrap Recovery

Trim, clippings, and converting scrap from our facility are baled and returned to the fiber stream as Old Corrugated Container (OCC) feedstock — not landfilled.

Structural Efficiency Reviews

We regularly audit existing box specs with customers to find over-engineered designs. Matching board grade to actual compression and stacking requirements saves fiber without sacrificing protection.

Responsible Mill Sourcing

We source corrugated sheet from established U.S. mills that operate under environmental compliance standards. When a customer requires certified fiber, we specify mills carrying SFI or FSC chain-of-custody.

Regional Supply Chain

Manufacturing in St. Louis means shorter truck miles from mill to plant, shorter delivery radius to most Midwest customers, and fewer touchpoints in the supply chain. Geography is part of our sustainability story.

THE INDEPENDENT ADVANTAGE

Independent means accountable.

Large integrated mills can claim a closed loop because they control every step. We can’t make that claim — so we make a different one: we will always tell you exactly what’s in your packaging, where it came from, and what it can and can’t do.

✓  No greenwashing. No borrowed certifications.

✓  Documented material sourcing on request.

✓  Certified fiber available when procurement requires it.

✓  Six generations — and our reputation — on every box.

If your company has sustainability reporting obligations or procurement policies that require SFI or FSC documentation, let us know upfront — we’ll source accordingly and provide the paperwork your auditors need.

Our Environmental Commitment

We commit to designing packaging that uses the minimum material necessary to do the job, to sourcing fiber responsibly, to keeping our production waste out of landfills, and to being honest with every customer about what their packaging is and isn’t.

That’s not a policy document. That’s how this business has operated for six generations — and how it will continue.

RIGHT-SIZING FOR SUSTAINABILITY

The most sustainable box is the right-sized box.

Every cubic inch of excess box is a sustainability problem: extra fiber at the source, more corrugating energy at the mill, wasted space on the truck, extra void fill inside the box, and more material to recover at the end.

Wunderlich structural engineers design to the product — not to the nearest standard size. The result is a box that’s better for the environment, better for your freight cost, and better for your customer’s unboxing experience. All three, simultaneously.

↓ Less Fiber Used

Fewer board square feet per unit shipped

↓ More Units Per Pallet

Better pallet utilization reduces truck trips

↓ Less Void Fill

Tight-fit designs eliminate foam and plastic dunnage

↓ Lower Freight Cost

Sustainability that also saves money every shipment
