A Cooperage on the
Misssissippi River
“Make it better than expected – and get it there on time.” the founding principle of Chas. Wunderlich Cooperage Co., and a promise every generation since has kept.

BUSINESS
Born on the Banks of the Misssissippi
In 1860, a craftsman named Charles Wunderlich set up shop just a few blocks from the mighty Mississippi River in St. Louis, Missouri. His trade was cooperage — crafting the wooden barrels that fueled commerce along one of America’s great waterways. The tools were simple. The standards were not.
That original location still anchors us today. Our headquarters at 821 Clinton Street sits only a few hundred feet from where Charles first put hammer to stave — and the river is still out there.
What began as a barrel-making trade has become one of the Midwest’s most respected corrugated packaging operations — a sixth-generation, privately held family business with the same founding philosophy intact.

Full Commitment to Corrugated
After 30 years running both operations, Wunderlich makes a decisive pivot: the barrels stop. Corrugated becomes the sole focus. One hundred years in, the company is fully transformed — and fully committed.
